Jennings brews up award-winning beers for 2014

All five of Jennings Brewery’s permanent beers have won prestigious awards and international acclaim during 2014. 5th December 2014

The five beers have won a total of eight awards in the last 12 months in the International Beer Challenge, the World’s Best Beer Awards and with CAMRA’s Beer of the Year in Cumbria.

Jennings Head Brewer Jeremy Pettman commented: “2014 has been a particularly fruitful year for us through rounds of rigorous judging in international beer competitions whilst still performing well in our own county.

“Whilst people who come to the North West and the Lakes love discovering our beers on their travels, it’s satisfying to think that we are building such a great reputation further afield on a truly international stage.”

Medals and awards for 2014:

  • Jennings Cocker Hoop won a silver medal at the International Beer Challenge 2014 and is a 4.6% abv (4.2% abv in bottle) golden bitter from an all malt brew, with Styrian Golding hops added at various stages, to give a classic hop flavour and aroma
  • Jennings Cumberland the 4.7% variant won a silver award at the World Best beer awards 2014 and a bronze medal at the International Beer Challenge 2014.A superb golden coloured ale brewed with English pale Ale malt and using only the finest English aromatic hops added at two stages during the process
  • Jennings Sneck Lifter won Gold in the Old Ale Strong Mild category in CAMRA’S Cumbria Beer of the year 2014 and a silver medal at the International beer challenge 2014. Sneck Lifter is an award winning 5.1% abv beer; a strong, satisfying ale, wonderfully warming and full of complex flavours, which create an intriguing beer of great character
  • Jennings Bitter won a gold award at the World Best Beer Awards 2014 and a bronze medal at the International Beer Challenge 2014. A distinctively darker bitter, with a really moreish taste and a very drinkable strength, Jennings Bitter it makes the ideal session beer at 3.5% abv
  • Jennings Dark Mild won Mild won a silver award in the Mild category at CAMRA’s Cumbria Beer of the year 2014. It’s a very dark, malty mild, which is characteristically sweet, but well balanced and extremely drinkable at 3.1% abv
