On February 22 the first barrels of Cumberland Ale, Jennings Bitter and Sneck Lifter began to roll out of the brewery since it was forced to close temporarily in November.

While staff cleaned out the brewery and repaired equipment, beers were brewed elsewhere.

In four months, Jennings customers have helped to raise a total of £178,497 - which will now go to the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund helping Cumbrians affected by the floods rebuild their lives.

The incredible total was raised by the brewery donating 10p from every pint of its beers sold while the Cockermouth site was closed due to flood damage.

Brewery manager, Gaynor Green, said: "We were staggered by the amount raised by people up and down the country - it showed how much sympathy people had for those affected by the terrible floods last year."
