Emma Gilleland, Jeff Drew and Simon Yates celebrate with their trophies and medals
Two trophies were awarded to Marston’s with Emma Gilleland collecting the Champion Non- and Low Alcohol Beer award for Manns Brown Ale and Simon Yates collecting the Champion Keg Ale award for Revisionist Rye Pale Ale. The pair also collected silver medals for New World Pale Ale (cask) and Krušovice Imperial lager and were joined by Jeff Drew, Head Brewer at Wychwood who collected a gold medal for Hobgoblin.
The ceremony, which marked the end of the 2015 competition, was attended by more than 400 people. As well as the presentations to the ten Championship winners, Bronze, Silver and Gold medals were given to more than 100 brewers and cider makers.
Simon Yates, Assistant head Brewer at the Wolverhampton said:
Emma, Jeff and I were thrilled to represent Marston’s on behalf of the brewing team at Marston’s. Picking up gold and silver medals as well as the two trophies is testament to the skills and expertise of everyone. The judges were clearly very honourable and discerning!
Chair of judges Bill Taylor said
Close to 1,000 beers and ciders were judged at Burton-upon-Trent earlier this year, so to be chosen as one of just ten Championship winners is a tremendous accolade and the brewers and cider maker who are taking home trophies should be very proud of their achievement.
