Help for Heroes bottle awaits ‘fastest female bottle’ World Record

Help for Heroes beer is flying off the shelves so fast at Tesco that one even ran the 2015 London Marathon, hoping to break a new Guinness World Record as ‘fastest female bottle’.
20th May 2015

The bottle in question was ably worn by Natasha Pitman, Customer Manager for Beer Wine & Spirits at Tesco who completed the gruelling 26 mile, 385 yard run in 3 hours, 57 minutes and 57 seconds. A veteran runner of nine previous marathons, Natasha’s Help for Heroes 2 kg costume meant that she was some way off her personal best of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 15 seconds.

The details of the World Record attempt were very precise and the costume has to encase the runner from the knees up and be approved by the Guinness World Record adjudicators before the race was run. Photographs of Natasha taking part had to be submitted to the records team afterwards for verification that could take up to six months to confirm.

The bottle costume was absolutely brilliant - it was surprisingly comfortable and as it was such a cold day it kept me warm at the start. The bottle was photographed by loads of tourists and beer lovers during the day and the Arsenal fans on the train back loved it!
I’ve raised up to £1,697 so far for Help for Heroes through my JustGiving page and bucket collection and the crowd on the day were amazing.
The funniest part of the day was at the start, before I had put the costume on - people were mistaking bottle for a dustbin putting banana skins and empty bottles in the holes!

A professional to the end, Natasha saved some energy afterwards for a Tesco Express store check (which looked pretty good for 7.30pm) and then she downed a draught beer in Euston Tap!

People can still donate to Natasha’s Just Giving page for Help for Heroes
