Mayor Howard Marriner and his wife helped to officially open The Morgan, a brand new pub and restaurant in Belvedere, creating 45 new jobs in the area.

“We had a fantastic first day,” said Scott Houghton, who runs the pub. “We’ve been non-stop since we opened, and everyone seems very happy with the pub.”

Scott treated Mayor Marriner and his first lady to a tour of the pub, a coffee and a cake.

The Morgan has been built by Marston’s Inns and Taverns and can cater for up to 180 diners. The pub offers a Milestone Carvery, with freshly roast beef, lamb and turkey every day, and there’s a selection of other home cooked meals and a wide range of drinks, wines, lagers and Marston’s cask ales, along with some locally brewed ales.

“We’ve passed all our expectations, and everything is going really well,” added Scott.

“We’re really pleased the Morgan has had such a great welcome from the local community,“ said Paul Whiteman, Area Operations Manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns. “We’re aiming to be a hub for the local community and we’re very happy that they enjoy our excellent value for money, great food and fantastic customer service.”
