Marston’s and UKWSL pick up top prize at the Green Apple Environment Awards.

Marston’s and its waste partner UKWSL have added to their impressive collection of environmental award wins, after picking up a gold trophy at this year’s Green Apple Environment Awards.

The prestigious prize – which recognises environmental best practice from around the world – is the fifth award the partners have collected in 2019.

It was awarded in recognition of a host of sustainability accomplishments by the two organisations, from exceeding the 99% national threshold for Zero Waste to Landfill in Marston’s pubs, to their continued efforts to ‘close the loop’ by redesigning pub gardens to incorporate furniture made from recycled plastic waste.

The Green Apple Environment Awards were established by The Green Organisation, a not for profit body set up in 1994 to campaign, recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice globally. In addition to receiving the award, Marston’s and UKWSL will appear in The Green Book, an annual publication that highlights examples of best practice from companies, councils and communities around the world.

Earlier this year, Marston’s and UKWSL won the ‘Partnership Excellence’ category at the MRW National Recycling Awards, the ‘Sustainable Use of Water’ and ‘Waste Prevention and Management’ categories at the Footprint Drink Awards, and the ‘Operator of the Year’ category at the Foodservice Equipment Journal awards.
