As one of the largest UK pub groups, Marston’s recognises its responsibly to take action for equality. In 2019 the company signed up to the Diversity in Hospitality, Travel & Leisure (HTL) Charter and joined fellow businesses in the industry to collaborate and create actions to improve diversity and inclusion across the sector.

Marston’s has a dedicated workforce who everyday use their passion and skills to help deliver results and overcome challenges. Over half of employees (52%), including around 35% of pub managers, who make up the workforce are women.

Over the years Marston’s has celebrated the achievements and talent of its employees, and in 2019 was the only pub company to have four female finalists in the WeQual Awards, of which Sharon Singh, Operations Director at Marston’s, won in the operations category.

To mark International Women’s Day and its importance, Marston’s would like to celebrate all the remarkable women who help make up the business, one of which is Hayleigh Lupino.

Hayleigh is the Director of Group Finance at Marston’s and is also the Non-Exec director on the Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company board representing Marston’s with Marston’s CEO, Ralph Findlay.

As well as excelling in her professional career, Hayleigh also joined the board of Directors for the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton.

Hayleigh said: “The Grand Theatre is a registered charity and needed some finance and commercial experience. As part of my role at the theatre I’m the chair of the finance and business sub-committee. My passion for the theatre and the fact it was a local company from my hometown made it an easy decision to join, I wanted to help.”

In addition to her career commitments, Hayleigh also dedicates her time to work with an organisation called Women in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure (WiHTL). The organisation’s mission is to make a positive difference to 5 million women and people from ethnic minorities across the hospitality, travel and leisure industry globally by 2025.

“After I attained my level 3 in Coaching and Mentoring from the Chartered Management Institute, I was asked to mentor at WiHTL and thought it would be a great opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with other women to help them achieve their own goals.” Hayleigh added.

International Women’s Day is a celebration but is also a call to action and a reminder that everyone has a role to play to accelerate equality.
