Organiser and judge, Pete Brown said of the win: “Marston’s had to reach a new generation of drinkers and at the same time form a closer connection with its home town of Burton. It did so by creating the Beer Town Film Festival – a first for the town.”

Explaining why it was chosen as the winning event, he added: “This initiative demonstrates generosity, originality and long-term thinking, creating a firmer bond between Marston’s and Burton that should benefit both.”

The Beer Town Film Festival event took place at the Burton brewery in May and was the finale of a UK-wide short film competition that attracted 796 entries combined with a unique outdoor cinema event for a 300-strong local audience.

Marketing Manager, Jo Wyke and Brand Manager, Elliot Allison were there to collect the award and Jo said: “We were honoured to receive the award for Best Event against such tough competition from other brewers but equally delighted for the opportunity to showcase our work to a wider audience of our peers and influencers.”

Beer Town Film Festival was devised to complement the ‘From Burton With Love’ brand strategy for the range of Marston’s Beers brewed at Burton. The initiative was created as a way of celebrating creativity and craftsmanship in Burton as the spiritual home of brewing but taking it to a new UK-wide audience.
